The landscape around Bad Bevensen is made for cycling: mostly flat, well developed and scenically varied. The level bank paths along the Elbe lateral canal and the tours along the Ilmenau are especially popular. They lead through forest, fields and water and suit touring bikes as well as e-bikes and families.
From the Parkhotel you set off directly into the region. For longer trips into the heath or to monasteries and villages, an e-bike is particularly comfortable; rental options are available nearby. In the heath you should expect sand and natural paths — a trekking bike or an e-bike with wider tyres is more pleasant here than a pure road bike.
Flat and varied
A longer, mostly flat tour along the Elbe canal is ideal for a full day of cycling. If you prefer something shorter, combine the Klein Bünstorf Heath with a loop through the neighbouring villages. After the ride the Jod-Sole thermal baths are perfect for recovery — and in the evening a good meal at Restaurant Parkside.
